Why I recommend it
Veligandu suits couples and honeymooners chasing a genuinely reef-focused island — two house reefs, direct staircase access from most villa categories, and a real, resort-run dive/snorkel calendar showing year-round whale shark excursions and seasonal mantas (high Jan-Apr and Oct-Dec). With 91 of 100 villas set at 12+, it reads and functions like an adults-only resort even though it isn’t one on paper.
Best for
The honest fit
Veligandu is a couples-first island, and everything about it says so: a nine-hectare dot in Rasdhoo (North Ari) Atoll famous for its long white sandbank, 100 villas of which 47 have private pools, and a child policy that reserves every overwater and jacuzzi category for guests twelve and older — only the nine Beach Villas take all ages, so honeymooners get genuine hush without a formal adults-only badge. Getting there is flexible: a 20-minute seaplane hop or the resort’s scheduled speedboat from Malé, both official options. The register is romantic and premium — the Raalhu fine-dining corner with its champagne pavilion, an overwater Himeyn Spa, sandbank vow ceremonies, and Big Blue Point ten minutes away for hammerhead-shark encounters. Families with young children, or travellers hunting an entry-level price point, are honestly better served elsewhere in our portfolio — we’ll point you straight to the islands with kids’ clubs and value-band villas built for exactly that.

Planning your trip
Return transfers are included in every Mykish package. We confirm the transfer basis on your quote.
Veligandu sits in Rasdhoo Atoll, administratively part of North Ari Atoll, and both transfer modes are equally standard here — the resort publishes each as a current option rather than one as a fallback.
Seaplane — around 20 minutes. Operated by Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) in daylight hours, departing from TMA’s dedicated seaplane lounge at Velana International Airport.
Scheduled speedboat — around 60 minutes. Departures from Malé at 10:30 and 16:45, returning at 07:00 and 15:30, from the Crown & Champa desk (booth B9) in the arrivals hall.
From Australia, Veligandu connects via the major Malé gateways — then either the ~20-minute seaplane with Trans Maldivian Airways from its dedicated lounge at Velana, or the scheduled ~60-minute speedboat from the Crown & Champa desk. Both are standard; your return transfer is included either way.
Consultant tip
Consultant tip: if diving or snorkelling with whale sharks is the priority for your trip, book early in your stay — the resort runs these as weekly guided excursions, and repeat trips across a longer stay improve your odds.

As a direct-contract partner, Mykish books Veligandu at rates the public can’t access online, with on-ground support if anything needs sorting during the stay, and seasonal free upgrades when available — never guaranteed, always confirmed at the time of booking.
