Why I recommend it
Sun Siyam Iru Fushi is one of the biggest single-resort footprints in our Maldives portfolio — 221 villas across twelve categories — which means genuine choice inside one property, from an entry-level beach villa right up to a 600m², 3-bedroom Retreat with its own butler. It’s a standout for family and multi-generation groups: real kids’ club hours, family-capable villas at every price point, and three Retreats built for exactly this kind of trip. The house reef is a real feature here, not a footnote — manta rays are a resident sighting, day and night, not a lucky-season maybe.
Best for
The honest fit
Iru Fushi is a big island that wears its size well: 221 villas across twelve categories on a lushly vegetated Noonu Atoll island, which is precisely what buys it seven restaurants, six bars, an award-garlanded spa and a kids’ club — a resort that hums with life rather than whispers. Travellers who want a tiny island where the barman knows your name by day two are better served by a smaller island in our portfolio, and we’ll say so when you enquire. It’s a genuine family resort — Koamas Kidz Club from age three, a kids’ spa, two-bedroom retreats — that still protects couples’ space, with Reflections pool bar kept adults-only. The house reef is the underwater headline: prolific coral and mantas that visit day and night, right off the island. Whale sharks are not this island’s game — sister properties Sun Siyam Vilu Reef and Sun Siyam Iru Veli run dedicated whale-shark excursions, and we’ll point you there if that encounter tops your list. Board basis runs the full ladder from bed-and-breakfast to all-inclusive, so the island meets you at the level of inclusion you actually want.

An Eden-garden wellness setting with Ayurvedic, naturopathy, acupuncture, Chinese-medicine and Maldivian therapies, yoga and hydrotherapy — plus Sweet Pea, a dedicated kids’ spa.

The house reef — a local fishing point before the resort was built — is prolific with soft and hard corals, with mantas visiting day and night, and the resort’s dive team calls Noonu "a new diving area for divers who have seen it all in the Maldives": channel dives, thila plateaus, and the "Christmas Tree" thila with nurse and leopard sharks. Certified divers get 20% off dive-centre activities.

Complimentary kayaking and stand-up paddling, plus one hour per stay of catamaran sailing or windsurfing (licence required for the latter).

In the water
Mantas visit the house reef during the day and night, and can also be seen at other points on the reef — presented by Sun Siyam as a resident sighting, not a stated seasonal window specific to Iru Fushi.
Planning your trip
Return transfers are included in every Mykish package. We confirm the transfer basis on your quote.
Sun Siyam Iru Fushi sits in Noonu Atoll, Republic of Maldives, roughly 45 minutes by seaplane north of Malé. Transfer options and timing are covered in the Australian traveller guide above; on arrival, guests are met and assisted at Velana International Airport by a dedicated Sun Siyam team, with lounge access at the seaplane or domestic terminal (including a complimentary 10-minute back and shoulder massage for seaplane guests) before transfer to the resort.
From Australia, Sun Siyam Iru Fushi connects via one of the major Malé gateways — Singapore Airlines via Singapore (SIN), Malaysia Airlines via Kuala Lumpur (KUL), SriLankan Airlines via Colombo (CMB), or Emirates via Dubai (DXB).
Once in Malé, Sun Siyam Iru Fushi offers two transfer routes depending on your arrival time: a ~45-minute daytime seaplane direct from Velana International, or — for arrivals or departures outside daylight hours, since seaplanes don’t fly at night — a ~35-minute domestic flight to Maafaru International plus a ~20-minute speedboat transfer. This two-route setup gives a bit more scheduling flexibility for a late-arriving Australian connection than a seaplane-only resort would.
All pricing on this page and in any quote is in AUD; any currency switcher elsewhere on the site is indicative only.
Consultant tip
Consultant tip: on both transfer types, the baggage allowance is 20kg checked + 5kg carry-on per person, with excess charged per kilo by the transfer operator (not a Mykish or resort fee). Worth planning for ahead of time if you’re travelling with young kids and pram/cot gear, or packing dive gear.

As a direct-contract partner, Mykish books Sun Siyam Iru Fushi at rates the public can’t access online, with on-ground support if anything needs sorting during the stay, and seasonal free upgrades when available — never guaranteed, always confirmed at the time of booking.

On the island
Questions
Fly into Malé via Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Colombo or Dubai, then a ~45-minute daytime seaplane direct to the island. Late-night arrivals or departures instead use a ~35-minute domestic flight to Maafaru International plus a ~20-minute speedboat transfer, since seaplanes only fly in daylight.
Yes — it's a genuine family resort, with multiple "Best Family Resort, Maldives" awards. Koamas Kidz Club takes children aged 3 to 11.99 years, and the beach-based villa categories and the multi-bedroom Retreats all suit families. It is not an adults-only resort.
The resort doesn't recommend it given the layout, but — unlike some of our other Maldives partners — it isn't an absolute rule here: water villa bookings with children are accepted with the parent's full consent and responsibility. Most families choose a beach-based villa or one of the Retreats instead.
No. It runs a full kids' club and multiple family-capable villa and Retreat categories. Reflections, one of the resort's pool bars, is reserved for guests aged 16 and above, but that's one facility, not the whole resort.
Buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner (or a three-course à la carte meal at Trio, Flavours, Taste of India or Bamboo, with a 50% food-only discount at Islander's Grill), all-inclusive beverages at Waters Edge and every restaurant/bar during operating hours, a daily snack, three scheduled excursions per stay (Local Island Visit, Sunset Golden Cruise, and a guided house-reef snorkel), a spa credit, complimentary kayaking or stand-up paddling, and more. It does not cover Teppanyaki, the Wine Cellar, Bubble Lounge, Spa Café, cooking classes, in-villa dining (beyond a 50% food discount), or special/destination dining.
The resort's in-lagoon Nemo Garden is accessible without a boat, and All-Inclusive guests get one complimentary guided snorkel there per stay. Boat-based Snorkelling Safaris to outer reef sites also run several times a week for guests who want to go further afield — those are a paid add-on, not included.
On the beach: Deluxe Beach Villa (125m²) and Deluxe Beach Villa with Pool (125m², private pool) are the entry categories; Family Deluxe Beach Villa with Pool and Pool Beach Villa (both 140m²) are near-identical beach categories with a separate living/dining area. Over water: Water Villa (85m²) and the Horizon Water Villa/Sunset Horizon Water Villa (90m², same product, your choice of aspect) don't have a pool; Horizon Water Villa with Pool (110m²) and Infinity Water Villa (155m²) do. For larger groups or multi-generation travel, three one-off Retreats step up again: Hidden Retreat (2 bedrooms, 205m², garden-based) and Celebrity Retreat (3 bedrooms, 600m², garden-based, the resort's flagship) are land-based; Aqua Retreat (2 bedrooms, 350m²) is genuinely overwater. All three Retreats include a personal butler.
No — it isn't a whale-shark property. The house reef here is genuinely good, with resident manta rays seen day and night, but if seeing a whale shark is the priority for your trip, we'd point you to Sun Siyam Vilu Reef or Sun Siyam Iru Fushi's sister property Sun Siyam Iru Veli, both direct-contract Mykish partners with dedicated whale-shark excursions.
No advance visa is required. The Maldives grants a free 30-day tourist visa on arrival to all nationalities, including Australians, provided you hold a passport valid for 6+ months beyond your stay, proof of onward or return travel, confirmed accommodation, and sufficient funds for your visit. We hold a direct contract, so we can secure better rates than the public price, on-ground support if anything needs sorting during the stay, and seasonal upgrades when available (never guaranteed, always confirmed at time of booking).
