Why I recommend it

Why we recommend it

Levin Iglut sits on the slope of a fell at 340 metres, ten kilometres from the centre of Levi. The igloos face out from the hillside, and the supplier builds them in glass — the property describes the igloos, Restaurant Utsu and the kota teepee as all glass built with a 360 panoramic view.

What makes it worth a conversation is that the twenty-seven igloos are not interchangeable. Three Suite igloos run to 53 square metres with a private terrace, an outdoor hot tub and illuminated northern lights in the lounge ceiling. Nine Prime Superior igloos sit in the front row or immediately behind it, four facing the valley and five facing the forest. Fifteen Superior igloos sit on the side of the fell with an unobstructed view of the sky. They are all 23 square metres apart from the Suites, and which one suits you depends on who is travelling.

An aurora alert is included with every night, alongside breakfast, WiFi, bed linen, towels and the departure cleaning. The property publishes a northern-lights season running from the end of August to the beginning of April. Nobody can promise you the aurora, and we do not.

The honest fit

The four valley-side Prime Superior igloos take two people and cannot take an extra bed at all. If you are travelling with a child, the Suite, forest-side Prime Superior and Superior igloos are the ones built for two adults and two children — worth saying plainly, because the valley-facing front row is the one most people picture.

Transfers are not included in the room. They are private and sold separately, from Kittilä Airport or from any of fourteen other pick-up points. That is different from some Lapland properties, where a transfer is bundled into the package, and it is worth budgeting for rather than discovering.

The Northern Lights House is a separate self-contained house rather than an igloo. It is built partly underground with landscape windows, has its own sauna and outdoor hot tub, and asks for a minimum of two nights. It is not a glass-roofed igloo and should not be booked expecting one.

The property books activities on your behalf and runs private tours, but the pack we hold does not set out an excursion programme of its own. If a specific husky, reindeer or snowmobile day matters to your trip, tell us and we will confirm it with the property before you commit.

Getting there

  • Nearest airportKittilä Airport. Private transfers only.
  • RegionLevi

The igloo hotel is on the slope of a fell at a height of 340 metres. The centre of Levi is ten kilometres away, and the property describes it as one of the most popular holiday destinations in Lapland with services that complement its own — their assessment of the town, recorded as theirs.

Transfers are private and pre-booked, from Kittilä Airport and from fourteen other points across Lapland and northern Sweden. We confirm timings with the property.

Check-in is from 16:00 and check-out is at 11:00. The property’s operating year runs from late August to the end of April.

Kittilä Airport is the arrival point the property transfers from, and it also runs transfers to the igloos from Levi village, Köngäs, Ylläsjärvi and Äkäslompolo, Kolari train station, Rovaniemi, Luosto, Lainio, Harriniva, Jeris, Saariselkä, Ivalo, Kilpisjärvi, Inari and Jukkasjärvi in Sweden.

Every transfer is private and we arrange it for you. We confirm the timing with the property against your flights.

Consultant tip

Two nights minimum if the Northern Lights House is what you want — the property requires it.

The upstairs seatings at Restaurant Utsu are under the restaurant’s own glass roof, at 17.00, 17.30 or 20.30 from November to April. If you want to eat under glass rather than only sleep under it, ask for upstairs when you book, because the downstairs seatings by the open fireplace run at different times.

The separate sauna and outdoor jacuzzi is booked as a private two-hour slot for one to four people — 9-11, 12-14, 15-17 or 18-20. It is not a walk-in facility, so book it with the room.

One honest line: the northern lights are a natural phenomenon and can’t be guaranteed — they depend on solar activity and cloud cover on the night. What we can promise is the planning: the right place, the right nights, and a stay built to give you the best possible chance.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Where exactly is Levin Iglut?

On the slope of a fell at a height of 340 metres, ten kilometres from the centre of Levi in Finnish Lapland.

Which airport do we fly into, and how long is the transfer?

Kittilä Airport. The property runs private transfers from there to the igloos, we arrange yours, and we confirm the timing with the property against your flight times.

Are the northern lights guaranteed?

No. Nobody can guarantee the aurora, and we never will. What the property does publish is a northern-lights season running from the end of August to the beginning of April, and an aurora alert is included with every night so you are woken if they appear.

What is included in the room?

Bed linen, towels, the departure cleaning, the aurora alert, WiFi and breakfast.

What types of igloo are there?

Twenty-seven glass igloos in four products: three Suite igloos at 53 square metres with a private terrace and outdoor hot tub; four Prime Superior igloos facing the valley; five Prime Superior igloos facing the forest; and fifteen Superior igloos on the side of the fell. The Prime Superior and Superior igloos are 23 square metres.

Can we bring children?

The Suite igloos, the forest-side Prime Superior igloos and the Superior igloos are each for two adults and two children. The four valley-side Prime Superior igloos take two people only and cannot take an extra bed. Extra beds elsewhere are a double sofa-sleeper taking one adult or two children under thirteen, and a baby cot is available.

Is there a sauna?

Yes — a separate private sauna with its own outdoor jacuzzi, booked in advance for one to four people in two-hour slots at 9-11, 12-14, 15-17 or 18-20. The Northern Lights House has its own private sauna as well. The igloos themselves do not have en-suite saunas.

Is there a restaurant?

The upstairs seatings are under the restaurant's own glass roof at 17.00, 17.30 or 20.30 from November to April; other times between 18.00 and 20.00 are downstairs by the open fireplace. Vegetarian, vegan and halal dishes are available, and dietary requirements are taken with three days' notice.

What is the Northern Lights House?

When is the property open, and what time is check-in?

The published season runs from 27 August 2025 to 30 April 2026. Check-in is from 16:00 and check-out is at 11:00.
