The accommodation spread is genuinely enormous, from a simple four-guest log cabin through to the Luxury Kelo-Glass Igloo — a three-bedroom, twelve-guest suite with its own kitchen, living room and sauna section, plus a private chef option. The resort runs its own activity centre directly from the property, so most excursions (husky safari, reindeer safari, snowmobile, ice fishing, aurora hunting by half a dozen different methods) start at your door rather than eating into your day with transfers. As a direct-contract Kakslauttanen partner, Mykish passes through preferential rates on both East and West Village versus the resort’s own public tariff.

Kakslauttanen is best booked the way it actually runs: as a structured Lapland stay. Every reservation carries half board and at least one activity per night (three or more nights, three to four activities), drawn from the resort’s own signature shortlist — husky safari, reindeer safari, snowmobile, horse sleigh, smoke sauna, Santa’s home — so the itinerary is largely composed before you land, and most departures start at your door rather than a distant depot. The property runs as two clusters, East Village and West Village, a short drive apart, with a free transfer between them for guests staying in both, and several signature categories live in only one of them — the Luxury Kelo-Glass Igloo, Kelo-Glass Igloo and Large Glass Igloo in West, the Queen Suite and Wedding Chamber in East — so we confirm which village your category sits in before you book. One more local rule worth knowing: the resort’s guest-privacy policy prohibits flying drones on the property. The closest airport is Ivalo (IVL), 35km / ~30 minutes by car, with regular daily flights from Helsinki. The resort can also be reached by bus from Rovaniemi (city centre or airport) — the “Kakslauttanen” stop sits 100 metres from the East Village reception — or by car via the resort’s own address. The two villages sit a short drive apart; the resort provides a free transfer between them for guests staying in both, with departure times confirmed at reception on arrival.
There’s no direct flight from Australia to Finnish Lapland. The resort’s own materials confirm the closest airport is Ivalo (IVL), with regular daily flights from Helsinki to Ivalo — so the practical routing from Australia is a long-haul sector into a European or Middle Eastern hub, on to Helsinki, then the Helsinki–Ivalo domestic leg.
