Why I recommend it

Why we recommend it

I walked through Santa Claus Elves Hotel before it opened — the suites, the saunas, the restaurant with the fireplace — and it’s where I’ll be placing families at Santa Claus Village this winter.

Opening December 2026 — be among its first guests.

Santa Claus Elves Hotel is a new apartment-hotel INSIDE Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi — on site, and an official partner of the village, which is the operator’s own description of itself. It stands on the Arctic Circle at 66°32′N, three hundred metres from the Arctic Circle live camera. It opens in December 2026, and everything below describes a building that is finished but has not yet had a guest in it.

What it is built for is families, and the four suites are unusually clear about who fits in them. The Junior Sauna Elf Suite is 29 square metres for two, with its own sauna and its own balcony. The Elf Suite is 41 square metres for five. The Senior Sauna Elf Suite is 50 square metres for five with a sauna. The Master Sauna Elf Suite runs 55 to 60 square metres, sleeps seven across two separate sleeping areas, and is the one we would put grandparents, parents and children into, or two families travelling together.

Three of the four have a private sauna. One does not, and that is the kind of thing that is easy to miss on a booking screen and worth knowing before you choose.

The honest fit

Brand new for winter 2026–27. Santa Claus Elves Hotel opens in December 2026, and the first guests of its first winter will be the first people to stay here at all.

Rahul walked the building before it opened — the suites, the saunas and the restaurant with the fireplace — so the shortlist you get back is first-hand.

It is steps from Santa’s office and the Arctic Circle line, inside Santa Claus Village and an official partner of it. Four suite types take from two to seven guests, and three of the four have a private sauna.

Who it suits: families who want Santa Claus Village on the doorstep and room enough to spread out — the Master takes seven across two separate sleeping areas — and couples who want the Arctic Circle outside the window, in a suite for two with its own sauna and its own balcony.

Experiences & wellness

Every suite has a private balcony, and three of the four have a private sauna — the Junior, the Senior and the Master. The Junior is built for two, at 29 square metres, and the operator describes it as a private spot to watch the sky without leaving your room on clear winter nights.

The property lists northern-lights viewing among what it offers, which is what you would expect of a building on the Arctic Circle with balconies on every suite.

Planned for opening: a restaurant and bar serving Arctic cuisine, a breakfast buffet, an all-day lounge with light bites, 24-hour reception and parking on site.

Consultant tip

Ask us which suite before you fall for a photograph. Only the Master takes seven, and only it splits into two separate sleeping areas — if you are three generations, that is the one.

The Elf Suite has no sauna. If a private sauna is the reason you are coming to Lapland, that is the suite to avoid, and the Junior is the cheapest way to get one.

It opens in December 2026, so the first winter is the first winter. We will confirm exactly what is open and running on your dates rather than reading you the brochure.

One honest line: the northern lights are a natural phenomenon and can’t be guaranteed — they depend on solar activity and cloud cover on the night. What we can promise is the planning: the right place, the right nights, and a stay built to give you the best possible chance.

We hold a direct contract here, so your enquiry goes through a relationship rather than a booking screen, and it is handled end to end by a Mykish consultant with our 24-hour response promise.

Because the four suites differ in who they sleep and which of them has a sauna, we will tell you which one we would put you in and why — including when the smaller suite is the better room for your trip.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

When does Santa Claus Elves Hotel open?

December 2026. The operator publishes a four-stage construction timeline ending in a December 2026 opening, and we will confirm what is open and running on your dates before you commit.

Where is it?

At Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi, on the Arctic Circle. Santa's Office is 200 metres away and the Arctic Circle line 150 metres.

Is this the same as Santa Claus Holiday Village?

No. They are two different properties at the same village and their names differ by one word. Santa Claus Holiday Village is a separate property we have sold for years and has its own page on this site.

Which airport, and how do we get there?

Rovaniemi Airport. We arrange a private transfer to the property and confirm the timing against your flight times.

What suites are there, and who do they sleep?

Four. The Junior Sauna Elf Suite, 29 m² for two, with a private sauna. The Elf Suite, 41 m² for five, with no sauna. The Senior Sauna Elf Suite, 50 m² for five, with a private sauna. The Master Sauna Elf Suite, 55 to 60 m² for seven, with a private sauna and two separate sleeping areas. Every suite has a private balcony.

Do all the suites have a sauna?

No. Three of the four do — the Junior, the Senior and the Master. The Elf Suite does not.

Can we see the northern lights from the property?

The property lists northern-lights viewing among what it offers, and the operator describes the Junior suite as a place to watch the sky from your own balcony on clear winter nights. Nobody can guarantee the aurora, and we never will.

Is there a restaurant?

A restaurant and bar serving Arctic cuisine, a breakfast buffet and an all-day lounge are all planned for opening, alongside 24-hour reception and parking. None of them has served a guest yet, and we will confirm what is running on your dates.

Does the property run husky or reindeer trips?

Not itself. It books activities on your behalf through other operators, including husky safaris, reindeer sleigh rides and northern-lights hunts. A reindeer farm is 600 metres away and a husky park a kilometre out, but the property does not run them.

Are the photographs real?

No, and we say so on every one of them. The building was still under construction when the images were made, so the operator's images are artist's renderings and are captioned "Artist's impression". We will not present a rendering as a photograph.
