Why I recommend it
Santa Claus Holiday Village is the anchor family property in our Lapland portfolio — it sits literally inside Santa Claus Village on the Arctic Circle, so the single most requested Lapland experience (meeting Santa) is a short walk, not a day-trip. At 171 apartments it’s larger and more practical than our design-led glass-igloo properties, and every single unit — cottage or suite — has its own private sauna, which not every Lapland property can say. It’s a genuinely different pitch from Kakslauttanen or Northern Lights Village: this is the “easy basecamp for a family with young kids” property in our range, not the “one glass-domed night to remember” property.
Best for
The honest fit
Santa Claus Holiday Village is the easy family basecamp of our Lapland range — 171 self-contained, apartment-style cottages and suites sitting literally inside Santa Claus Village on the Arctic Circle, minutes from Rovaniemi Airport, with a private sauna in every single unit and breakfast, linen and final cleaning included across every category. The most-requested Lapland moment — meeting Santa — is a short walk, not a day trip, and the resort’s own Christmas House Safaris run the huskies, reindeer, snowmobiles and aurora hunts from its private activity area. Take it on its own terms: one category (the Glass Igloo Cottage) has the glass roof, aurora viewing runs as a paid excursion whose sightings can never be guaranteed, and the Glass Igloo Dining venue takes reservations October–March with the rest of the dining café-style and à la carte. Couples chasing every night under glass are exactly who we’d steer to Kakslauttanen or Northern Lights Village instead — that’s what the rest of the portfolio is for.

Packages
Out on the snow

A private meeting with Santa at his forest cabin, run through the resort’s own Christmas House Safaris activity desk.

Husky sled tours, including self-drive options, organised through Christmas House Safaris.

A paid evening excursion (20 Aug 2026–13 Feb 2027, three seasonal start-time windows).
Private heated glass igloo dining under the Arctic sky, a curated menu; reservations available October–March only.

A 2–2.5 km ride of roughly 40 minutes through the forest, with hot drinks and a snack by an open fire afterwards.

Drilling through thick lake ice and fishing it the way locals do — usually sold alongside the reindeer and husky meets.

A small-group tour: a short snowshoeing introduction, forest trails, then ice fishing on the frozen lake.

One day, three things: a husky sleigh ride, a traditional reindeer sleigh ride and ice fishing. The efficient choice on a short stay.
A day excursion to Ranua Wildlife Park — the same park that anchors our Ranua Resort page, an hour or so south.
Time at the property
Christmas House Safaris (the resort’s own activity desk): reindeer sleigh rides, husky sled tours (including self-drive options), Northern Lights evening excursions (three seasonal windows, sightings not guaranteed), ice fishing, snowmobiling, private Santa forest cabin meetings, and a combined “Family Fun Day” package. Day trips to Ranua Wildlife Park are also offered.
Summer (April-September): a lighter program — cycling routes, nature/forest/river exploration, Midnight Sun viewing. Genuinely optional context for a winter-first property; not the primary draw.
Not offered / not found: no dedicated spa/wellness facility.

Santa Claus Village is on the doorstep, and Christmas House Safaris arranges private meetings with Santa at his forest cabin.

Husky safaris from the resort’s own private activity area — including self-drive sled options.

Traditional reindeer sleigh rides through the Arctic forest, run through Christmas House Safaris.

Guided snowmobile safaris and ice-fishing trips on the resort’s activity program.

Guided aurora excursions, run by the property.
Day visits to Ranua Wildlife Park, home to Arctic species including polar bears, bookable through the resort’s safari program.
Planning your trip
Return transfers are included in every Mykish package. We confirm the transfer basis on your quote.
Santa Claus Holiday Village positions itself as “your Arctic basecamp” — located right inside Santa Claus Village itself, on the Arctic Circle, within walking distance of dining and activities. The official site puts Rovaniemi Airport around five minutes away. The rate includes an outdoor parking place with a car heating post, and electric-car charging is available on site. Transfer timing and AU-routing context are covered in the Australian traveller guide above.
From Australia, Santa Claus Holiday Village is a genuinely different routing proposition from our Maldives properties: there’s no single Malé-style gateway. The realistic pattern is a long-haul flight to Helsinki (HEL) via a Middle East or Asian hub, followed by a domestic connection to Rovaniemi Airport (RVN).
We provide your private transfer to the resort.
Seasonality: winter activities (aurora, husky, reindeer, snowmobile, ice fishing) run November–March; a lighter cycling/nature/Midnight Sun program runs April–September. All pricing on this page and in any quote is in AUD; any currency switcher elsewhere on the site is indicative only.
Consultant tip
Note also that the resort’s own Northern Lights excursion is a booking window (three seasonal start-time slots between 20 Aug 2026 and 13 Feb 2027), not a promised viewing season — set expectations with clients accordingly.
One honest line: the northern lights are a natural phenomenon and can’t be guaranteed — they depend on solar activity and cloud cover on the night. What we can promise is the planning: the right place, the right nights, and a stay built to give you the best possible chance.
Your consultant
As a direct-contract Santa Claus Holiday Village partner, Mykish holds the relationship with the property itself rather than through a middleman — so your enquiry and booking are handled end to end by a named Mykish consultant, with our 24-hour response promise, and on-ground support if anything needs sorting during your stay. It also sits inside the original Santa Claus Village on the Arctic Circle, so meeting Santa is a walk from your door rather than a day out; and every unit here — cottage or suite — has its own private sauna, which not every Lapland property can say.

Questions
Fly into Helsinki (HEL) — typically via a Middle East or Asian hub — then a domestic connection to Rovaniemi Airport (RVN). This is a genuinely different routing pattern from our Maldives properties, since there's no single Malé-style gateway.
Yes. Santa Claus Holiday Village is one of our direct contracts — and it is not the exception: every Lapland property we sell is contracted directly with the property itself. Nothing here is resold allotment with somebody else's margin inside it. You get a contracted rate, a named Mykish consultant handling the booking end to end, our 24-hour response promise, and if anything needs sorting while you are there we deal with the property direct.
Yes — the property states a private sauna in every one of its 171 apartments, across every cottage and suite category, per its own accommodation page.
No one can promise that, and the property itself says so: its bookable Northern Lights excursion explicitly states sightings cannot be guaranteed, as they are a natural phenomenon.
Genuinely, yes. The Family Suite (43m², sleeps 5) is the largest unit at the resort, there's a dedicated Family Fun Day activity package, and the private Santa forest cabin meeting is a distinctive family drawcard other Lapland properties in our portfolio don't offer in the same form.
Breakfast, towels, bed linen and final cleaning are included across every accommodation category, per the official site. Activities (reindeer, husky, snowmobile, ice fishing, aurora excursions, Santa's forest cabin) are separately priced add-ons, not bundled into the room rate.
The Glass Igloo Cottage is the one glass-roofed unit, built for aurora viewing from bed. Every other category — the Cottages family (Classic Cottage Twin/Double, Superior A/B, Superior Plus) and the Suites family (Classic, Jensen, Tempur, Vispring, Family) — is a standard-roofed, self-contained apartment-style unit, all with the same private en-suite sauna.
Because a property will always tell you it's the right one. We hold the contract here, we have been to it, and we sell four others in Lapland — so you get a straight answer about which suits your family, then one named consultant from enquiry to return flight.
No — and the nearly identical names confuse almost everyone. Santa Claus Village is the free public attraction on the Arctic Circle in Rovaniemi: the painted Arctic Circle line, Santa’s Office, the official Santa Claus post office. Santa Claus Holiday Village is a separate accommodation property next door — the cottages and suites you actually stay in. One is a sight; the other is where you sleep, and it puts that sight on your doorstep.
You book a stay at Santa Claus Holiday Village — the attraction itself isn’t a hotel. Staying there means the Arctic Circle, Santa’s Office and the post office are a short walk away, and the Holiday Village’s own activity programme — meeting Santa, reindeer, huskies — runs around the village. Tell us who’s travelling and we’ll build the stay around it.
